As you're familiarizing yourself with those guidelines, ask yourself the following questions and find out how those answers apply to you.
#1 – Who can work with contact lenses? Some regulations limit duties and responsibilities as to who can process, dispense, and work with patients on contact lens care. But for the most part, all team members should be able to assist patients when handling telephone calls, pricing and insurance questions, scheduling a fit or follow-up appointment, and understand abnormal adaptive symptoms.
#2 – Become familiar with prescription regulations. For example, we've now been introduced to the contact lens rule that regulates the dispense of a contact lens prescription. It has been placed on a hold for the time being, however if you've already implemented this at your office continue to keep working towards that as it will likely come up again in the future.
