Deductible

Okay, so what is a deductible? A deductible is the amount of money a patient or family must pay out of pocket before an insurance company begins to pay a portion of the expenses for you. We have two types of deductibles, the first is a family deductible and second is an individual deductible. So, let's say as a family, you have a $2,000 deductible that must be met with in a calendar year and all of you go to your collective or respective doctors and you spend out-of-pocket $2,000. At that point for the entire family, the insurance company is going to start paying on your medical claims that are filed. likewise if you are an individual within that family and let's say your individual deductible is $1,000 and you go to the doctor within a calendar year and pay specifically for you out of pocket $1,000 then the insurance company is going to start paying expenses on any further medical claims that you have, even if the family member deductible has not been met. Once that family member deductible is met, they will pay collectively for the family.
