By creating an employee recognition program, leaders can show their employees that the hard work they perform every day, does not go unnoticed. It provides an opportunity to show you’ve seen the hard work and you appreciate it! An employee recognition program could offer an incentive, whether that be time off, a gift or a bonus. However, a personal touch to employee recognition can tend to go further with employee satisfaction. Add a personal touch with a specific, handwritten thank you card, highlighting where the employee went above and beyond. Employee performance typically increases with any form of recognition.
Provide your team with a gift, as well as marketing for your practice! Company swag can come in many forms and can be utilized by your team, their families, or even patients! This example is universal. Think about providing your team with a sweater that has your logo on it. Not only will your team look uniform wearing the same sweater with your logo, but after work, they run to the grocery store still wearing your practice’s logo. This is a walking promotion for you. Not to mention, we’ve created employees who love to talk about your practice so when someone stops to ask if you offer contact lens fitting, your team member can proudly talk about your office and how that potential patient can contact you!
Celebrate milestones in your office! Whether it’s a birthday or anniversary of your staff member, make sure you recognize that day. Do a post on social media, give them a card, or bring in a cake. Whatever you choose, be sure you are consistent and remember, it doesn’t need to be over the top. Your staff just wants to know you care and remember days that are important to them. You can also celebrate company milestones. Maybe the practice has reached a production goal, a monthly new patient goal, or it’s the company's anniversary. No matter the milestone, its good to recognize those accomplishments as a team.
Bonding activities can be anything from a holiday party, a team building exercise at your monthly meeting, or an occasional team lunch. It doesn’t matter which activity you choose, just remember to promote team bonding by allowing the staff some time to relax as a team and get to know each other better in an informal environment.
