As a medical professional, you know all about HIPAA and the importance of patient privacy. Social media is no different. You will want to make sure you have a patient form to get a signed consent to use your patient’s photo and/or their name on social media. We have a resource available if you would like to use it as a template to get started with your own social media consent form.

It’s a good idea to take patient photos in a specific area of your practice, not only to maintain consistency but to also verify that there is nothing in the background that could be a violation of privacy.

Make sure to scan the forms into your patient’s file in your EHR so they can easily be retrieved if needed.
