Here are a few things that will apply to all lenses, regardless of the type. It’s important to know the following measurements are required to fit a contact lens. The prescription, the lens diameter, the lens thickness, the optic zone, and the peripheral curve blending. This is obtained by refraction and keratometry of the eye.

The contact lens prescription will vary from a glasses prescription and they will look a little different and they may not always match. The contact lens prescription will include the brand of contact lenses, the sphere power, the cylinder, if applicable, and the axis, if applicable, the base curve, and the diameter of the lens. When fitting monovision or multifocal lenses, it is important to indicate the dominant eye and the added power.
