Comprehensive Eye Exam

Okay, moving right along. So, we have gone over quite a few definitions, terminology, CPT codes, diagnoses, modifiers, etcetera and I'd like to go ahead and pause for just one moment and make a generalization that I think you will find helpful. And that is that most medical insurances will not pay for or cover a comprehensive eye exam or your 92 codes.

However, as in life, there's always an exception to the rule and we will go over this in more detail in our advanced program number two, but for right now, as a rule of thumb, what I want you to remember is that typically you bill your 92 comprehensive eye exam to your vision insurances and your 99 EM or medical billing to your medical insurance.

So, for now, we're going to stick the basics and I do want to encourage you, please take the time and get to know your insurance carriers and how they define these different codes. I think you will find it very helpful and save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
