Lens Reimbursement Comparisons

Let’s begin to look at the lens reimbursement comparisons that VSP has discussed putting in place and was postponed to take into effect January 1, 2021.

If we are looking at recommending a digital single vision lens in a Trivex material with an anti-reflective coating D, we are going to see a total reimbursement difference of $18 for a signature plan or $26 for a choice plan, when we compare that of the Unity and Techshield products to that of the non-preferred lens options. That is because our reimbursement for using the preferred lens brand is $14 – $21 and is only $7 – $11 for your choice plan, when we use that non-preferred brand. Also, when using a non-preferred anti-reflective coating, your reimbursement will be 50% less than if you were to choose to use the Techshield AR coating.
