First and foremost, we need to ensure that we finish out 2020 strong. Immediately, review your schedules for the months that your practice was either closed or any time that you may have been working with a reduced schedule. You want to reach out to those patients individually, who have not yet been seen and offer them an appointment to get them in by the end of the year. If they are still not ready to come in due to concerns for COVID, go ahead and offer to pre-appoint them for 2021 in the month that they were originally scheduled to be seen. If they are not yet ready to pre-appoint, then offer to add them to your recall list or let them know that you’re more than happy to reach out to them next year, in the month that they were originally scheduled. Other options include offering them a Telehealth visit. Any time you speak with a patient, always confirm the best way to reach them.

Now, the key to Focusing on 2021 is to begin planning. Begin planning now. Let’s begin to really create a strategy within your practice that will allow yourself to be prepared for the unexpected going forward. We must always ensure that your team is on the same page and understands why it is so important that we do not drop the ball.

You must take the measures and the steps to ensure that your schedule does not die and to ensure that your policies and your procedures going forward are strong. Drive your strategies home and once again, let’s make sure your team has a full understanding of the end goal!
