Patient Prep

So you've just left the pretest room and you're now in the exam room.  Let's talk about the patient prep. As you walk into the room, invite the patient to have a seat. Clean the slit lamp, phoropter, and occluder in front of the patient. Set supplies neatly out for the doctor, so that they are easily accessible. Pull up any images for the doctor to review and set the expectations for the patient.

And what do I mean by setting the expectations? As you have the patient in the seat, let them know you will be cleaning off the instrumentation, and that we'll be continuing to gather information during the preliminary testing that is important for the doctor in their assessment of their visual health.
