Lastly, there is the traditional mailed recall postcard or letter. Recall Method #3. There is a place for this method! Some patients will opt out of your automated system. Others may change phone numbers. It's important to attempt to reach these patients by mail. If you are going to use postcards for regular recall, consider having the patient self-address the card during their visit. Keep these postcards in a physical tickler file and send them out on a monthly or bimonthly basis. As I said, this is the least effective method of recall, but still necessary in many cases.
