So, what are the rewards of providing 5 STAR patient care? Well, often the rewards include meeting goals, employee engagement, improved staff retention, patient loyalty, more referrals, a better brand and in the end, more profit. 

Now, for those of you new to healthcare or patient care or optometry, you’ll find quickly why providing 5 STAR care is essential to the practice. For those who have been in the industry and just need a reminder, I want you to think about what you have gained or received from providing excellent patient care and think about your why. Why do you work with patients? Why are you in optical? Why are you in the patient care industry at all?

I remember many times that I was reminded of my why and it always resulted to patients. Have you ever watched a little kid put glasses on who hasn't worn glasses or been able to see and watched their reaction for the first time they put their new glasses on and they can see? That reaction is priceless. Have you ever worked with a post-cataract patient who for the first time in a long time sees colors much more vividly than they remember them being? Their excitement, that at no matter what age of life they are in, that excitement of seeing those colors again, as bright and as clear as they are, is huge. It’s an experience and a reason that is so hard to explain, but when it happens and when you get to experience it, you understand why. You understand why you are doing what you do. Now, these are just a few of many instances in which you will be reminded of why we are patient first and why a patient first and 5 STAR care mentality is important.
