Clearly it's essential to have enough patients scheduled to come in and then to have them show up every day that you are open for business. Now, think about how your patients found your practice. Where did those patients on the schedule come from? Well, if you are a brand-new practice, practically all your patients are new and came to you through family, friends, and recent marketing efforts. For established practices, most of the patients on the schedule are probably coming back to you as established patients. Even established practices need to have a steady supply of new patients on the schedule, though. Why? Well, people pass away, they move away, they have changes in insurance benefits, or sometimes they just decide to go somewhere else (hopefully not because they were unhappy with their last visit!). For that reason, we are going to begin by focusing on your new patients.
