Hello Mrs. Jones. This is an amazing instrument that allows us to assess the pressure in your eyes by very gently bouncing a small sensor off the front surface of your eye. What is amazing is the sensor floats in a magnetic field that reduces the friction and allows an accurate measurement for the doctors to use in assessing your risk for glaucoma. Our patients tell us that they barely notice anything.

Hello Mrs. Jones. This instrument is called a tonometer and it gives the doctors a measurement of your intraocular tension and is very important in assessing the possibility of glaucoma. It measures the response of your eye to a mild puff of air. Although the puff of air is relatively mild, it can be a little surprising. So, don’t worry, it won’t harm you in any way.
